Kayo NBL Promo

This project started out as a study on graphic design in sports. I chose the Adelaide 36ers as the team to base the project around, which eventually evolved into a promotional piece for Kayo Sports. Most sports are usually fast paced and intense which is often reflected on in a majority of their promotional material. I tried to capture the electric feel of sports branding. I loved experimenting with kinetic typography and fast transitions, as well as using a grungy aesthetic and bold typefaces. This whole project was such a blast from start to finish, but my favorite part of the project was probably creating the mood board and style frames. Finding inspiration from all the amazing works on Pinterest, then letting my imagination run wild on photoshop experimenting with all the different styles. I was able to be so expressive, which was a stark contrast compared to studying the safe corporate style of design. Being a sports fan myself, I've accumulated so much insight into the different aspects of sports design over the years. Even at the most recent AFL game I attended a few weeks ago at Adelaide Oval. There was such a diverse range of work by different designers—from advertisements that constantly play on the boundary fence to the amazing motion graphics that play on the scoreboard when a player kicks a goal. It really puts into perspective just how much opportunity is out there, and how diverse graphic design in sports can be.
